Daniel Eckert is an American business executive and investor. In addition to his responsibilities at TCEF, Mr. Eckert serves as the lead Operating Partner at Corsair Capital and as a Venture Partner at Commerce Ventures, specialist investment firms that operate across the financial services, retail and infrastructure sectors. Prior to his investment services work, Mr. Eckert spent a decade as a senior executive at Walmart Inc., where he served as a key member of the U.S. leadership team responsible for Walmart’s retail and omnichannel business transformation.
During his Walmart tenure, Mr. Eckert and his team built and deployed over a dozen industry-leading Omnichannel shopping tools that moved the Walmart App from 685th to 2nd in popularity in iOS the App Store, including WalmartPay, which the Walton Family awarded Mr. Eckert the company’s highest honor: The Sam M. Walton Entrepreneur of the Year Award
Prior to Walmart, he served as a senior vice president at HSBC, where he founded and led HSBC’s venture development and payment products group. He also previously held positions at JPMorgan Chase & Co. and Accenture Ltd and was the founder and president of an early-stage investment banking company.
Mr. Eckert holds an MBA with High Honors from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a BA in History with Class Honors from the University of Michigan. He previously served as an Officer in the United States Marine Corps
